Social movements

Social Movements

If you are not controversial you are not a teacher. If you are not subversive you are not a learner. If you are not dangerous you are not a thinker

Social movements have as their primary aim to bring about change in the existing social order. This includes economic and political relations in which the basic institutions of property and labor dealings are usually primary. In this social interaction a sense of group identity is required. People involved in the movement become aware of the fact that they have feelings in common the primary issues motivating public action. The united action comes about through sharing a sense of injustice, that things can be better and they share some goals in common in a very broad sense. In the beginning most movements are not organized. Though certain groups participating may be organized.

First there is something wrong that should not be wrong. Next there are things we can do to improve the situation. Then it becomes obvious we are morally obligated to take action to improve the situation. Finally this set of beliefs and action becomes the only life worth living.

The super exploited are the vanguard of the revolution. But, when they become revolutionaries there is often nothing left to lose. But, still a direction of struggle needs to be clarified or opportunism of the leadership becomes the on going model that leads to another layer of exploitation. Mistreatments of just causes to the possible gain of an elite are yet one more privileged and influential ascendant restricted victors. The existential crisis born of this struggle will burn itself out if it finds no direction for the poor, vulnerable, destitute, helpless wage workers with few opportunities, options, openings, serious alternatives or away out of the wastelands of capitalism. There is road ahead if it does not work keep this vision ahead and don’t settle fir less. Every victory is a rest stop for a future with a clearer idea was to go next. Civilization is the confutation, of opinions of struggle with sound and furry of the bland, old losing the way of a genuine class of industrial wage earner workers revolution in the direction of personal narcissism. The real struggle is more direct and focuses on the job site as well as in the neighborhoods. Basic needs must be met, comfort levels attained, democratic participation in the decisions that affect our lives and the honest pursuit of happiness in and artistic and sensual celebration of life. To settle for less is unacceptable except as a temporary rallying point for a more intense struggle.

The Function of Marxism in Jean-Luc Godard’s Masculin fĂ©minin (1966).

For the socialist the role of the state changes. The socialist the task is to increase the public sector, while minimizing the state structure at the same time as expanding direct participatory democracy. Through public employee unions, civil rights, civil liberties, consumer groups, citizen action committees, environmental protections, and etc. Democratizing at the Federal, State, County and Municipal levels at the same time. It is the free market capitalists who benefit most from big government by keeping the rest of us in line while subsidizing a bankrupt economy.
