To the American Hero

At a time when the American people are bailing greedy private sector CEOs and protecting large investors in Transnational Corporate from their own avarice and psychosis lets remember the real foundation of America’s moral economy and the backbone to our collective survival in the upcoming future. I am talking about our public employees. This includes federal, state, county, and city employees as well as the unsung heroes of the service sector like teachers, health care providers, and all the women and men whose work makes our lives worth living. Public and service workers are motivate by the ethical concern of public service and not profit. Most work beyond their job descriptions because they care about the people they service. Though the pay is always modest they work long hours often with little thanks because they are a breed apart. As the private sector drowns in the quagmire of bonuses to those whose gluttony brought all of us to the eve of destruction. This decaying sloughs of production for profit and dream that success means accumulated wealth for the individual sociopath needs only our pity. To the public employee we give our thanks. To the public employee social needs are more central to the economic concerns of the people than profit. Work is driven by concern for social responsibility and community protections. Public and service workers need our support in these dangerous times. The public employee deserves to know how much we deeply appreciate what they do for us. Lets put pressure on our policy makers to make the public sector our top priority, because these brave individuals are too important to sacrifice on the altar corporate crimes. Any public economic plans must put the public employees first.
