We humans are not only individuals, but born into a social setting in which we all play a vital role. We are also a part of part of a larger environment both natural and social. In other words this larger environment provides with what we need to stay alive each and every day. Like any animal it is only through our labor we can live. Labor creates all wealth. Either our own collective labor or the labor of some one else’s, and thus is an economy should be based upon fairness or it is one of exploitation.
We start with the slogan if you do not work you do not eat. Also stated from each according to their abilities and to each according to their needs. This begins with the simple idea given the right support we all can be productive members within the larger community. A fair and truly democratic society is created, in which the definition is hands-on fairness or participatory democracy.
To understand the meaning of fairness, justice, equity and equality the strategies we can use in an effort to produce ethics of reasonableness, compassion and empathy. Equity is at its core making sure everyone has what they need to be fruitful, thriving and successful. Equality is very simple it is treating everyone the same. Equality aims to promote fairness, but it can never work because not everyone starts from the same place and needs the same help. We all have special needs and no one is self-made and isolated individual. Each success is a collective effort. Thus Participatory democracy accentuates the extensive input of citizens of this planet in the management and inspiration of civil, economic, social and cultural arrangements that we participate in and the decisions that affect our lives.
