Socialism defined:
1. First a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole. Democratically with respect and compassion.
2. Thus, characterized by social ownership of the means of production and workers' self-management of enterprises along with community councils, consumer cooperatives and citizen groups like civil rights and environmental advocates. Each of us then would have multiple representation directly in the running of society.
3. Local communities federated to the next step up the organizational latter through direct representation based upon transparency and accountability, with well-defined term limits.
4. Participatory democratic control on the job, in the communities and over the means of distribution. Up and down the levels of organization.
