Immigration policy for a sane society is a real possibility. The New Year offers new hope about finally getting a policy we can live with. The cry human “rights for all” is the theme. We can by ending detentions, deportations, militarization of a border that has remained open for most of our history and dehumanizing honest working people. We need a policy that is approachable, inclusive, fair, and safe for our undocumented working class. We need a prompt solution for intolerable logjam of awaiting family visas for these honest hard working victims. We need to make health care, education, social services, healthy food, good housing, and legal protections available to these decent valuable assets to America’s future. No compromise on due process for anyone living within the US. We need massive cut backs on the funding and legal support on border enforcement policies, including the tearing down of our Berlin Wall at the border. Elimination of Criminal Alien Program, “That places a high priority on combating illegal immigration, including targeting illegal aliens with criminal records”. Stopping the Delegation of Immigration Authority Section 287(g) Immigration and Nationality Act in which state or local law enforcements are given authority, by Homeland security, for immigration enforcement within their jurisdictions and must seriously be reformed. This is a clear violation of due process. Also the Secure Communities program is a deportation agenda that reduces immigrants to special harassment because they are immigrants.

Finally, would should insist on full union recognition and protection of any and all undocumented workers, working within the US including and end to employment verification. The immigrant is to valuable to be treated with such contempt.
