The beat goes on

The Bishops are not women, husbands, fathers, mothers, but they are single men.  Nor are the Bishops people who have any concept of true family values. Unlike mothers who worry about being able to provide protection and a healthy environment for the children we already have, the Bishops talk about a cruel utopia that never really existed, or another time or place where hunger and death were constant worries of poverty stricken large families.  Most Catholic women here in the U.S. and Europe of childbearing age are currently practicing birth control any way.  The Bishops have chosen to make this a political issue, I believe, not because any of them really care; but because it is a non-issue that they can turn into a “righteous” cause. Issues like poverty, economic injustice and exploitation, corruption within the church and recent church scandals are though vey important, messy.
